[Title]
The Urban Resilience Master Plan Model:
Model, Applications and Implementation in Complex Urban Areas
[Abstract]
In this lecture, we explain the rationale, elements and methods behind the Urban Resilience Master Plan (URMP) model, which was developed over two decades ago and implemented by EMI (www.emi-megacities.org) in more than eight megacities from around the world. The URMP was the first model to rationalize and align the methodology of risk management and risk reduction along the conventional processes of urban planning and urban governance. It inspired other similar models and approaches such as the City Strength Diagnosis (World Bank, 2015). It adopts a module-block approach so that particular components can be undertaken separately for specific applications. Illustrative case examples will be presented to explain the model’s implementation.
