中島正愛教授がErnest E. Howard Award を受賞

Ernest E. Howard Award は、米国最古の工学系学会であり、建設工学系では世界最大の会員数（ 約14 万人）を誇る、「米国土木学会：American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)）」が与える学術賞で、構造工学（ Structural Engineering） における研究と実践に関する顕著な貢献に対して毎年1 名に授与される、1956 年に創立された賞です。
この賞をErnest E. Howard Award 平成25 年1 月15 日に、中島正愛教授が、日本人としては、初めて受賞しました。

受章理由：
For his pioneering research contributions that lead to the fields of hybrid testing and large-scale shake table testing, and for utilizing such test results to advance seismic analysis and design of
structures. In selecting you for this award, the committee particularly noted that your research and professional work defined a new paradigm in large-scale structural testing for earthquake
response simulation of structural components and systems.

（ 日本語訳） ハイブリッド実験システムと大型振動台実験システムの開発に関わる先駆的な研究成果と、これら実験システムを用いた多くの研究に基づく構造解析と設計の高度化への寄与に対する受章であり、特に、構造物や構造要素の地震応答シミュレーションに関わる大規模構造実験に新たなパラダイムを提示した点は特筆に値するものである。
