本ワークショップでは、自然および人為的リスクに直面する社会の適応と回復の戦略を、過去から未来を見据えた長期的なトレンドの視点にたって分析しているフランスの研究プロジェクト(IRN-RISCDIS)と連携し、その研究成果を共有するとともに、地震津波研究ユニットを中心に、京都大学防災研究所における今後の共同研究の可能性について議論することを目的としています。災害について、その歴史的軌跡をたどり直すことは、過去の災害によって引き起こされた社会的、経済的、文化的影響を十分に踏まえた上で、将来生じうる壊滅的なシナリオに対してよりよく備え、かつ十分な回復力を保つため上で、非常に重要な意味をもっています。ワークショップの議論を踏まえて、IRN-RISCDISプロジェクトと防災研究所の間で、国際研究ネットワーク(IRN)を構築し、今後の共同研究をさらに促進したいと考えています。
