Associate Professor Position in the Hydrometeorological Disasters Laboratory,Disaster Prevention Research Institute, Kyoto University

 

The Disaster Prevention Research Institute (DPRI), Kyoto University invites applications for a permanent Associate Professor position.

 

 

Location: Hydrometeorological Disaster Laboratory, Disaster Prevention Research Institute,Kyoto University, Gokasho, Uji, Kyoto 611-0011, Japan.

 

Job description and required qualification: The appointed associate professor is expected to conduct researches on hydrometeorological disasters, focusing on generation and prediction of convective storm and on hydrological forecasting. The research deals with experimental in-situ observation on convective storm generation and development using the latest remote sensors including weather radar, and advanced analytical and modeling technology. He/she also plans and coordinates the in-situ observation activities in cooperation with other organizations within and outside of Japan. The successful applicant is also expected to contribute to the Department of Civil and Earth Resources Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering, Kyoto University. He/she should have a Ph.D. or its equivalent and to be proficient in Japanese.
Starting date: As soon as possible after the selection.

 

Working conditions: Working hours: 38 hours 45 minutes per week under full-time employment in a discretionary working system. Days off: Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, Year-end and New Year holidays, University  Foundation Day, and summer vacation.

Salary and benefits: To be determined in accordance with the existing employment regulations of Kyoto University.
