Meeting with New Zealand Ambassador for Christchurch Reconstruction

November 20, 2012 The New Zealand Ambassador to Japan, Mr. Mark Sinclair and the First Secretary, Mr. Stefan Corbett visited Disaster Prevention Research Institute at Uji Campus to discuss research cooperation concerning post-disaster reconstruction of Christchurch. In 2011, DPRI received a visit from a Cabinet minister, Mr. Nick Smith and from a Member of Parliament for Christchurch East, Lianne Dalziel for them to learn Japan’s disaster experiences and natural disaster research in the institute.

For this visit, Professor Manabu Hashimoto, Vice Director of DPRI, welcomed them and introduced ongoing research cooperation with institutes in New Zealand. Professor Hitoshi Tanaka, Professor Yoshihisa Iio and Associate Professor Norio Maki also attended the meeting and had a discussion about conducting further research.
