Soils and Foundations is a leading academic journal in the fields of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering. As the official journal of the Japanese Geotechnical Society (JGS), it publishes a wide range of papers—including original research articles, technical reports, technical notes, and invited reviews on the latest trends—covering soil mechanics, rock mechanics, geotechnical engineering, and geo-environmental engineering. The journal marked its 60th anniversary in 2020, having published its inaugural issue (Vol. 1, No. 1) in June 1960.
