Visit by the Executive Director of AMEXCID to the Disaster Prevention Research Institute, Kyoto University

On August 19, 2025, Ms. Alejandra del Moral Vela, Executive Director of the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID) under the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, and Mr. Chiaki Kobayashi, Chief Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Mexico Office, visited the Disaster Prevention Research Institute (DPRI), Kyoto University.

During the meeting, comprehensive discussions were held on potential future collaborations between AMEXCID and DPRI, building upon the existing Joint Statement that had been previously concluded.

The visit also provided an opportunity to share the ongoing achievements of the Kyoto University On-site Laboratory “International Laboratory for Earthquake and Tsunami Cognition and Risk Reduction (iLETs)” in Mexico, as well as research outcomes from the Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development (SATREPS) project titled “Compound Disaster Risk Reduction associated with Large Earthquakes and Tsunamis.”
