DPRI members organized the First NCU-KU-OU Joint Workshop on Meso-to-Small Scale Modeling, Observation, and Prediction, which was held at National Central University, Taiwan from 3rd to 6th of March 2025.

This workshop was coordinated, based on the MOU relationships of DPRI with Department of Atmospheric Sciences, National Central University (NCU) and College of Atmospheric and Geographic Sciences, University of Oklahoma (OU), by Prof. Tetsuya Takemi at DPRI, Prof. Shu-Chih Yang at NCU, and Prof. Tian-You Yu at OU, and hosted by Department of Atmospheric Sciences, NCU. From DPRI, Profs. Eiichi Nakakita, Kosei Yamaguchi, Seika Tanji, and Takemi as well as some students participated in the workshop.

On the first day, Prof. Eiichi Nakakita gave a keynote speech, and the Elite Forum “Extreme Weather Prediction and Risk Management under Climate Change: Experiences in Taiwan, Japan, and U.S.” was held. On the 2nd and 3rd day, oral presentations by professors and researchers at NCU, OU, and KU were given. We also held a student poster session in the afternoon of the 3rd day, with a lot of interactions among professors, researchers, and students. On the 4th day, we had an intensive course with lectures by professors of OU and KU on the topics of radar observations and analyses, numerical weather prediction, and turbulent transport modeling for students from NCU, OU, and KU. Through the 4-day workshop, we had many interactions and communications among professors, researchers, and students.
