The Disaster Prevention Research Institute of Kyoto University Concluded a Comprehensive Partnership Agreement with Nippon Koei towards Promoting Research and Development Related to Landslide Disasters and thereby aims to contribute to disaster countermeasures.

The signing ceremony for this agreement was held on January 18 at the Disaster Prevention Research Institute of Kyoto University.

The Kyoto University’s Disaster Prevention Research Institute and Nippon Koei have collaborated on many projects, mainly in the field of Sabo, such as sediment observation, landslide flood analysis, water and sediment model research, and technical guidance and joint research in model experiments.

The current agreement further promotes countermeasures against landslide damage, which has been exacerbated by the effects of climate change in recent years.

Nippon Koei is the first private company to conclude a comprehensive partnership agreement between the Disaster Prevention Research Institute of Kyoto University.

In the future, DPRI intends to expand into the field of basin disaster research, specifically, use and improve analysis models for water and sediment from mountains to river mouths, and a platform for numerical simulations related to water engineering, including rivers, water, and sediment.
