New research and development project on “coastal disaster simulation system”

Associate Prof. Nobuhito Mori Research Group is collaborating with NEC Corporation, National Institute for Environmental Studies, Tohoku Gakuin University, Port and Airport Research Institute, on research and development of a coastal simulation system using green infrastructure such as mangrove, to verify and assess the effects of coastal disasters.

The objective of this project is to develop a disaster prediction model that simultaneously evaluates weather conditions, storm surges and wave conditions from typhoons.   In addition, a high resolution coastal wave model is to be developed to verify and evaluate the effect of disaster reduction by green infrastructure.
