Associate Professor Position in the Landslide Monitoring Laboratory, Research Center on Landslides, Disaster Prevention Research Institute, Kyoto University

 

 
The Disaster Prevention Research Institute (DPRI), Kyoto University invites applications for a permanent Associate Professor position.

 
Job description and required qualification: The appointed candidate is required to conduct research on long-term landslide observations, which include transport and sedimentation processes of landslide mass. The research should be conducted with field investigations, monitoring, and laboratory experiments, with a broad perspective of earth science studies related to surface processes. These efforts will contribute to prediction of landslide occurrence and advanced planning for landslide disasters, through collaboration with other organizations within and outside of Japan. The successful applicant is also expected to contribute to the Division of Earth and Planetary Sciences, Graduate School of Science, Kyoto University. The candidate must hold a doctorate or equivalent degree and be proficient in Japanese.
 

Starting date: As soon as possible after the selection.
 

Working conditions: Working hours: 38 hours 45 minutes per week under a flexible-hours system.
Days off: Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, Year-end and New Year holidays, University Foundation Day, and summer vacation.
Working place: The Tokushima landslide observatory of DPRI, Ikeda-cho, Miyoshi City, Tokushima Prefecture.

 
Salary and benefits: To be determined in accordance with the existing employment regulations of Kyoto University.

 
Social Insurance: Eligible for MEXT* mutual aid association membership, employees’ pensions, employment insurance, and workers’ compensation insurance.
