Practical application of flapgate type land gear without power / artificial operation – Tsunami, storm surge, flood control measures

  • Research Reports

Prof. Hajime Mase and the research team at the Disaster Prevention Research Institute (DPRI), Kyoto University collaborated with Hitachi Zosen corporation to commercialize a flapgate type land lock (tide gate) that automatically closes due to the buoyancy of the facility itself. In addition, the flapgate type land gears could be installed at the wall opening of buildings, a long diameter type installed on concrete tide banks, and an air conditioning duct installation type. The project was launched on 15 October 2016.
