Prof. Iguchi recipient of the Sixth JRD Award

Prof. Masato Iguchi, Director, Sakurajima Volcano Research Center, Disaster Prevention Research Institute (DPRI), Kyoto University is one of the most recognized volcanologists in the world.  He was awarded the Sixth Journal of Disaster Research (JDR) Award in recognition of his contributions to two JDR special issues. As executive editor, he published the two JDR special issues on “Integrated Study on Mitigation of Multimodal disasters caused by Ejection of Volcanic Products.” vol.11, no.1 in 2016 and vol.14, no.1 in 2019, the results of a project with the Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development (SATREPS) conducted between 2013 to 2018. The second special issue set a record as the most downloaded issue in a year. Further Prof. Iguchi was also the first author or co-author to publish 11 papers by JDR in 2019.
